GIANTmicrobes
As some of you may recall at Christmas Missy Lou & I were speaking about GIANTmicrobes, I've found a few I liked & wanted to share them with you:
- leukocyte (aka a white blood cell - which is what I work on),
- mono/kissing disease (aka EBV, which is what I did my masters degree project on,
- beaver fever(aka giardia - what you get from drinking dirty water),
- penicillin (what I'm allergic to), and last but not least, Lou's favourite
- sleeping sickness (aka Trypanasoma brucei)
Well that's all for now - I'm off to bed as it is 01.05!!!!

Why didn't they do as good a job for Plasmodium as they did for the Tryp? I can't tell if that malaria parasite is supposed to be a sporozoite or a macrogamete. It's definitely the wrong color.
I can't say, but then again not many people outside of malariologists can tell the difference between a sporozoite and a macrogamete, right?
I sent them an email asking them to make Burkholderia pseudomallei . . . no reply thus far.
