Sir Edmund Hillary

So how many of you know who Sir Edmund Hillary is?

I know I sure had not heard about him, until his name was mentioned on the radio today as being the first person to summit Everest on this day back in 1953 with Tenzing Norgay

Just figured I'd add this on to my blog in the category of interesting things we should know if we ever make it to Jeopardy.

Kids don't learn any history these days.

What do they learn then?

Music & arts are always the first to go when there is a budget crunch, they don't learn history, what's left?

Math & English . . . from the way the SAT scores havea been dropping they're not doing a great job with those subjects either.

Wasn't he a "Sir"? As in "Sir Edmund Hillary"?
I actually knew who he was, my Dad would have made sure of that at a young age, it's his kind of area. ;)
