Yet another example is the slang word "fag".It's an expression I hear a lot living in London. Course I learned quickly, a fag is slang for a cigarette. In the USA the same word is slang for a gay man!
Imagine my shock the first time someone asked me, "hey can I bum a fag?" (meaning can I have a cigarette)
